The City of Roswell is moving forward with the design of a new Fire Station #27, a state-of-the-art public safety facility that will strengthen emergency response coverage and improve service to residents in the eastern corridor of the City. As part of the broader Bond Program rollout—including planned improvements at East Roswell Park—this project represents a coordinated investment in public safety and community amenities in East Roswell.
Data from the 2024 Fire Response Analysis confirmed that the existing Fire Station #27—located on Holcomb Bridge Road near the Gwinnett County line—is not ideally positioned and currently experiences some of the longest response times in Roswell. According to the Fire Station Placement Analysis, relocating the station to Fouts Road, near East Roswell Park and the East Roswell Library, will significantly reduce response times and provide more consistent coverage for East Roswell neighborhoods.
The new fire station is expected to cost approximately $8 million and will be funded through the 2022 Bond Program. The station will be built on land already owned by the City, which avoids the need to purchase additional property. The project is currently in the design stage, with construction anticipated to begin in 2026 and completion expected in 2027.
“Our first responders are the heart of this community, and they deserve facilities that match their level of dedication,” said Mayor Kurt Wilson. “The new Fire Station #27 will help our firefighters respond faster and operate more safely, but it also symbolizes Roswell’s broader promise—to protect, serve, and invest in the wellbeing of our residents.”
Once complete, the new Fire Station #27 will significantly enhance emergency response coverage, reduce response times, and strengthen protection for residents and businesses in East Roswell—fulfilling a key goal of the City’s commitment to community safety and quality of life.

Designed for Safety, Wellness, and the Future
The new Fire Station #27 will be a 10,500-square-foot facility designed to meet modern standards for safety, wellness, and operational efficiency. The building will include drive-through bays, administrative offices, living quarters, and a dayroom and kitchen designed to support teamwork and firefighter health.
A key feature of the design is a heart-healthy alerting system, which uses targeted tones and lighting that activate only for personnel assigned to a specific incident—helping reduce stress and improve sleep quality for firefighters. The facility’s layout also supports quick mobilization while promoting wellness, teamwork, and training excellence.
The station’s placement and design will not affect the East Roswell Park dog park or reverse any recent park improvements. The project is being coordinated to complement ongoing enhancements at East Roswell Park and maintain all existing amenities.
Investing in a Safer Roswell

Roswell’s Fire Department continues to lead with modern initiatives designed to improve emergency response, firefighter wellness, and community safety:
- Traffic Signal Preemption System: This advanced system gives emergency vehicles priority at key intersections, automatically adjusting traffic signals to create safe and efficient routes when responding to emergencies—helping crews reach incidents faster and more safely.
- Qwake Program: Through participation in the Qwake program, Roswell firefighters use cutting-edge thermal imaging and augmented-reality technology to enhance visibility in smoke-filled environments, improving situational awareness and safety for both firefighters and residents.
- New Public Safety Headquarters: By early 2026, the Roswell Fire Department’s administrative offices will relocate to the City’s new Public Safety Headquarters on Holcomb Bridge Road, consolidating Fire and Police operations under one roof to strengthen coordination, training, and emergency preparedness.
- 48/96 Shift Schedule: Roswell Fire recently adopted a 48/96 shift schedule, allowing firefighters to work 48 hours on and 96 hours off. This nationally recognized model supports better rest, family balance, and overall firefighter wellness—improving performance and safety on duty.
- Future Fire Station #23: Planning is also underway for a new Fire Station #23, to be located near Bowen Road and State Route 92, expanding coverage in the western corridor and further improving Citywide response capability.
Together, these investments ensure Roswell’s first responders have the facilities, equipment, and support they need to serve a growing community safely and effectively.
