The City of Roswell received a pair of national accolades this week for its work in municipal communications and engagement. At the City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA) annual conference in Denver, Colorado, Roswell was recognized for Roswell Roots: A Festival of Black History and Culture and Tapestry of Generations: Roswell’s America250 Celebration.
“It is always nice to have hard work and creativity recognized, but to see it recognized as the best among cities across the United States of America is extra special,” said Roswell Communications and Engagement Director Matt Holmes. “These two awards are proof of the diligence and collaboration that are happening across department lines here at City Hall. A lot of credit goes to our partners in Recreation, Parks, Historic and Cultural Affairs, who organized and planned so many of these great community events. We are grateful to join them in the mission of engaging the residents of Roswell in innovative, meaningful, and now award-winning ways.”
Best Campaign Outreach to a Diverse Audience or Multicultural Campaign
Roswell’s first honor, the Savvy Award for Best Campaign Outreach to a Diverse Audience or Multicultural Campaign, put a spotlight on the City’s efforts to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Roswell Roots. The month-long celebration, which took place throughout Black History Month in February, built upon Roswell’s quarter-century long tradition of serving as a cornerstone for education, cultural awareness, and community connection, inviting all ages to engage, learn, and celebrate together.
Best One-Time Event
The City also won a Silver Circle Award for Best One-Time Event, celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. From historic reenactments and public art installations to live performances and family festivals, Roswell’s recognition of America250 wove together the stories of each generation through celebration, education, remembrance, and reflection.
