The Roswell City Council has approved a $3.19 million construction contract with Azimuth Contractors for phase I of the Woodstock Road Multi-Use Trail (MUT). Funded through the City’s TSPLOST 2 Program and an Intergovernmental Agreement with Fulton County, the project reflects Roswell’s ongoing investment in safe, accessible, and community-focused infrastructure.
Construction on phase I of the MUT is expected to begin in early 2026 and last for approximately nine months, with the goal of completing the project before Fulton County Schools is back in session in August 2026.
A Trail Built for Safety and Connection
Stretching from State Route 92 to Crabapple Middle School, the trail will feature an eight- to ten-foot-wide concrete path with pedestrian lighting to enhance safety and accessibility for walkers and cyclists. A second phase of the project, which is still in the design stage, will eventually extend the MUT from Crabapple Middle School all the way to Canton Street.
“This project is about more than concrete and asphalt, it’s about people,” said Mayor Kurt Wilson. “When we invest in sidewalks, trails, and safe crossings, we invest in the quality of life and safety of everyone who calls Roswell home. This project supports our Slow Down in Roswell campaign and our vision for a city that moves safely and smartly.”
Once complete, the trail will give residents and students a safer way to reach schools, parks, and nearby neighborhoods without needing to drive short distances.
“Woodstock Road is a busy corridor, and this trail will make a big difference for residents and students who travel it every day,” said Greg Nicolas, Interim Director of Transportation. “It enhances both safety and mobility while supporting the goals of Slow Down in Roswell and our commitment to a safer community.”
The total cost for the construction project is $3,192,339, with an approved budget authorization of up to $3,352,000 for contingencies. Funding includes approximately $2.5 million from City’s TSPLOST 2 fund and $855,500 through the Fulton County Waterline Intergovernmental Agreement.
Strengthening Roswell’s Multi-Use Trail Network
The Woodstock Road MUT is part of a broader plan by the City’s Transportation Department to expand Roswell’s network of paths and improve connectivity. Crews are currently constructing a MUT on the west side of Hardscrabble Rd., which includes a section of King Rd. (from Hardscrabble Rd. to SR-92). This project, which is expected to be completed in early spring 2026, will connect to an existing MUT on the other section of Hardscrabble Rd. just east of King Rd. Future MUTs are planned for portions of Old Alabama Rd., Riverside Rd., and Etris Rd.
Roswell’s MUT network provides safe, accessible connections between neighborhoods, parks, schools, downtown, and the Chattahoochee River—offering residents more options to walk, bike, and enjoy the outdoors. By enhancing visibility, pedestrian access, and overall street safety, this work directly supports the City’s Slow Down in Roswell initiative to create safer streets for everyone.
